A compulsive metaphorager (and inveterate wordplayboy), Opatz breaks it all down with enzymes of wry humor, thoughtful simile and close observation - a therapeutic process of narrativizing his own life that, almost as a byproduct, turns out savory nuggets of literate, confessional pop. We talk with him about his upcoming album, Extra Medium.

Good Morning Bedlam claimed the first-place title at the John Hartford Memorial Festival Band Competition, and were finalists at the NWSS Band Competition. They've played at festivals alongside artists such as Shakey Graves, Sam Bush, Jason Isabell, The Infamous Stringdusters, Trampled By Turtles and others, and the band has been featured on Bluegrass Today, Relix Magazine, State and Water, and Paste Magazine. We're joined by Isaak Elker and Tori Elker, and briefly by the rest of the band. This is music that will stay in your ears for a long, long time.

Pioneering electric violinist Tracy Silverman shares his thoughts on the music of our time, and its role in the evolution of string playing and classical music.
Formerly first violinist with the Turtle Island String Quartet, Silverman was named one of 100 distinguished alumni by The Juilliard School and was lauded by the BBC as "the greatest living exponent of the electric violin." He has performed as a soloist with many of the world’s finest orchestras, and is the subject of several electric violin concertos composed specifically for him by Pulitzer-winner John Adams, Terry Riley, Nico Muhly, Kenji Bunch and others, and has composed 3 electric violin concertos of his own.
